INSPIRATION Christiansborg Slotsplads / Christiansborg Palace Square Demokratiets samlingsplads i København har fået en perlerække af store granitkugler for at beskytte pladsen mod terrorangreb. Kuglerne har inspireret til designet af Christiansborgbænken. Den cirkulære bænk er et sted, hvor man kan slå sig ned og tænke over demokratiets vilkår og fremtid i en verden, hvor demokratiet er truet. Bænken er konstrueret af 80 ens sæde-ryg-elementer, som samles omkring granitkuglen og hænger på denne – svævende som Saturns ringe. Det hele holdes på plads af stålringen øverst på ryggen. / The gathering place for democracy in Copenhagen has been equipped with a row of granite spheres, like a string of pearls, to protect the square against terrorist attack. The spheres inspired the design of the Christiansborg Bench. The circular bench offers a place to pause and reflect on the conditions and future of democracy in a world where it is under threat. The bench is constructed of 80 identical seat-and-back elements that are joined together around the granite sphere and hang off it – floating, like Saturn’s rings. The structure is kept in place by the steel ring at the top of the back.
